The Reality of Ashura, Karbala, and Mu’awiyyah (RadhiAllahu Anhu)
Mufti Ebrahim Desai (Rahimahullah) explains the reality of Ashura, the oppression of Firawn and the liberation struggle of Musa (Alayhi Salaam).
Mufti Saheb pointed out two types of oppression on women today:
- Depriving them of quality time and spending time on mobile phones even at home
- Sharing indecent photos of women with friends
He also highlighted the seriousness of a solvent debtor oppressing his creditor.
Mufti Saheb (Rahimahullah) presented a background on the martyrdom of Husayn (RadhiAllahu Anhu) in Karbala. Mufti Saheb advised many aspects of the history of Karbala is a mystery. We cannot use historical facts to accuse Yazid or Mu’awiyyah (RadhiAllahu Anhu) for the martyrdom of Husayn (RadhiAllahu Anhu). No court of justice will be able to convict Yazid (Rahmatullah alayh) for such an accusation.
Mufti Saheb then expounded on the virtues of Mu’awiyyah (RadhiAllahu Anhu). He referred to Biharul Anwaar (A reliable Shia reference – Pg 124 Edition, Iran) on how Hasan and Ja’far al – Saadiq (RadhiAllahu Anhum) took Bai’at on Mu’awiyyah (RadhiAllahu Anhu)’s hands.
Mufti Saheb urged the audience to be proud of Mu’awiyyah (RadhiAllahu Anhu) and to name our children under his name.
Lastly Mufti Saheb spoke about the virtues of the Sahabah and the importance of maintaining a link and respect for the illustrious Sahabah (RadhiAllahu Anhum).
