1. How many bedrooms are there?
There are five bedrooms in total with each bedroom accommodating 3- 4 students.
2. Do we have to bring our own bedding?
No. The bedrooms come fully furnished including bedding.
3. Do we have to have buy our own food?
No, all meals are provided. However, you might want to buy your own snacks, candy, etc from the local shopping centre.
4. Do we get holidays?
Yes.The Darul Iftaa has a fixed academic calendar providing for holidays and day’s off periods for students.
5. Do I have to bring my own utensils?
Not necessarily, the Darul Iftaa has fully fitted kitchen with a good number of utensils, dishes, etc.
6. What happens if I get ill?
The Darul Iftaa has call out doctors on standby in the event of any medical emergency. Local doctors are within short distance from the Residence.
The Darul Iftaa provides World Class training and education to students from across the Globe including the United States of America, Jamaica, United Kingdom, Europe, Russia, South Africa, Australia and various other countries abroad.
Students are trained in various disciplines including Jurisprudence & Islamic Verdicts, Hadeeth Sciences and Tafseer. We also offer part time training and various short courses.
The Darul Iftaa offers specialist courses for post graduates (Ulama) in:
· Jurisprudence & Islamic Verdicts
· Islamic Finance
The focus of the Darul Iftaa is to instill academic confidence in its students and sense the superiority of Divine knowledge in witnessing the practical application of their knowledge in the various activities of the Darul Iftaa- general counseling in all aspects of life, Islamic Finance in theory and practice, commercial mediations and arbitrations.
Understand the diversity of the Ummah and its challenge through Fatawa from over 100 countries around the world.
Create a concern in the individual to serve the Ummah with Allah consciousness.
Application Process
1. Stage One
Kindly ensure that you have read and understood all admission criteria and requirements.
2. Stage Two
Download all admission forms or you can pick up hard copies of the application forms if you reside within the Durban area. Read and understand the documents carefully before completing the forms. Some forms require external assistance in the form of written recommendations from your teachers. Kindly submit your application forms and other relevant documents well in advance so that your application can be processed quickly and speedily.
3. Stage Three
Email all completed forms to the Darul Iftaa Admissions Office. Kindly submit copies of your student visa’s, passport and copies of your last three academic reports.
4. Stage Four
The Darul Iftaa Admissions Office will email you the outcome of your application. The Darul Iftaa will require certain additional information upon successful admission. The entire admission process generally takes between 2 days to two weeks.
File Requirements
When emailing the Admissions Office, you will be required to mail attachments and other documents. We suggest that you review the file upload requirements before mailing your documents.
The file upload requirements are as follows:
Files cannot be password protected
PDF files cannot have a digital signature
Scanned files should have a resolution no more than 300dpi.
We only accept DOC, DOCX, PDF, or RTF files.
Admission Forms
The Darul Iftaa Residence is an attractive building, set in a quiet area of Sherwood, Durban, South Africa. The Darul Iftaa residence has been carefully and meticulously designed to create a comforting and warm living environment.
The Residence houses 15 – 20 students at a time. Students enjoy various state of the art amenities, including five bedrooms, a Laundromat, an intercom/telephone system, a recreation and gym room, dining hall, kitchen, en-suite room, communal bathroom, Ablution facility, free wifi connection among others.
Meals are served daily in the main dining hall.
Bedrooms
The bedrooms are designed to cater for the specific needs of the students with fully fitted bedding, furniture, fans, wifi connection and blinds.
Kitchen
The kitchen consists of a fridge/freezer, stove and oven, knook area, granite tops and fully fitted cupboards where students can store their edibles.
Emergency/Security
The residence has a complete emergency and security plan. The building has emergency exit points, assembly points, emergency sound system, etc. The building has a fully integrated security system including highly sensitive cameras and security beams installed throughout the building.
Bathrooms
The Residence has a communal bathroom with state of the art showers, toilets and wash basins. The communal bathroom also caters for ablution.
Recreation/Gym Room
The recreation/gym room is equipped with state of the art machinery specially chosen by a qualified fitness trainer.
The Darul Iftaa is committed to promoting Islamic Education. Admission is based on academic excellence, spirituality, commitment and various other factors.

Applicants must complete all admission requirements and submit all the relevant information before application deadlines. You will be notified of the status of your application within two weeks of applying.
Applicants are required to fulfill the following admission requirements:
1. Complete Application form
2. Recommendation letters from the Principle and Shaikhul – Hadeeth
3. Submission of last three academic reports
4. Special Motivation Letter
5. Sign Code of Conduct
6. Additional letter of motivation to study the Tafseer and Hadeeth specialization courses
7. Valid Copies of Student Visa and Passport
