Commentary of Hadīth regarding Ajwah dates

Question:

I have a question regarding a Hadith, the close meaning is that whoever eats 7 ajwa dates in the morning, will be save from the effect of poison that day. What is the meaning here for morning? Is is eating it before noon any time or it means early morning at fajr without eating anything else. Please explain.

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The Hadīth referred to in the query is as follows:

مَنْ تَصَبَّحَ سَبْعَ تَمَرَاتٍ عَجْوَةً، لَمْ يَضُرَّهُ ذَلِكَ اليَوْمَ سُمٌّ وَلاَ سِحْرٌ (صحيح البخارى، بَابُ الدَّوَاءِ بِالعَجْوَةِ لِلسِّحْرِ)

Rasūlullāh Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam said, “The one who eats seven Ajwah dates in the morning, he will be protected from poison and magic the entire day. (Sahīh al-Bukhārī)

The Muhaddithīn have stated under the commentary of this Hadīth that one should eat the seven dates in the morning on an empty stomach prior to consuming anything else.[1]
